Minimum Age of Admission: Eighteen years.
Academic Qualification: Standard X and above along with an ability to read &write fluently both in Kannada & English. Computer literacy is essential.

Course Features
Syllabus
A broad outline of the syllabus includesHistory & Evolution of Cinema as an art-form; The technique of Screenplay-writing; Fundamentals of film direction; Introduction to Cinematography, Sound recording and Creative editing.
Admission
- The course concludes with a practical exercise during which a short film of five to ten minutes’ duration will be realized.
Certificate will be issuedto the participants after completion of the course.

An Indian filmmaker who is well-known for championing the cause of Avant garde kannada cinema. He holds a Master’s degree in Kannada Literature and a Diploma in Journalism. After a short stint as a journalist, he entered the world of cinema and television in the early nineties. He is the first Indian filmmaker to have won eight consecutive National Film Awards. His films not only provide a peek into his creative instinct but also put on display the innate humanism embedded in his conscience. His deep concern for the well-being of his fellow human beings has prompted him to produce gems such as BHARAT STORES and DECEMBER. His films are noteworthy for being an unequivocal commentary on contemporary socio-political realities of our times. Mr. P. Sheshadri is currently working on his screenplay for a bio-pic.
G.S Bhaskar
He took up film studies at the prestigious Indian film institute, the Pune-based Film and Television Institute of India familiarly known as FTII in 1976.
G. S. Bhaskar is a Cinematographer who has worked in many major feature film projects. He was a second camera assistant in the Academy Award winning feature film Gandhi (1982). Bhaskar has also worked as a cinematographer in acclaimed feature films including Saaz (1997), Nagamandala (1996), Accident (2008) and Koormavatara (2011). He has won several awards for his various works.
Abhaya Simha
Two-time National Film Award winner and an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). He has directed four feature films (Gubbachigalu – 2008, Shikari – 2010, Sakkare – 2011, Paddayi – 2017) and over 500 environmental, and cultural video films. Abhaya has also served as a visiting faculty at many prestigious institutions. He represented young Indian filmmakers at the Berlin International Film Festival. Two of his movie scripts have been selected for the NFDC and South Asian Script Labs. Abhaya also headed the Kannada Cluster for VOOT (OTT platform by Viacom18). He has been actively involved in cultural documentation through the Sanchi Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that documents audio-visual heritage.
B.R.Vishwanath
Vishwanath’s wide-ranging practice includes experiments with gum-bichromate techniques in the darkroom and various photographic modes. In addition to providing cinematography to emerging and leading directors of private and public agencies on various subjects including tribal communities. He has scripted and produced his own documentary Biographia (2010) and short film V.K.Murthy ‘Reflections’ 2023. He has taught and conducted workshops as visiting faculty (Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts) and has been a resource person to various film workshops led by illustrious artists, Girish Kasaravalli and G.S.Bhaskar.
Anand Varadaraj
Anand Varadaraj is the Artistic Director of BISFF, Hon Secretary Suchitra Film Society and former Chief Programmer and Curator of BIFFES.
H.N.Narahari Rao
H.N.Narahari Rao , president of Suchitra Film Society is a veteran Film Society Activist with five decades of service to the movement. He is also former President of FFSI, Former president of FIPRESCI, and former Artistic Director of BIFFES.

Suchitra Cine Academy
is the parent body of Suchitra Film Society which has been a house-hold name for the connoisseurs of the art-form. It is at the heart of an effort to spread the culture of meaningful cinema for more than five decades.
Now it has become a hub not only of cinema but also other cultural activities. It conducts academic courses in various art-forms such as Theater, Dance and Film. Yoga classes, theatre workshops and summer workshops for children through Balajagat are the other activities that are undertaken by the academy at regular intervals. familiar to cineastes as LACE for more than two decades, Lakshmisurya Academy is a forum which brings together the practitioners of cinematographic arts, cineastes, teachers & trainees of AV media as well as students of cinema who aspire to know more about the art-form.
