PRAKASH BELAWADI

Prakash Belawadi is an Indian theater, film, television and media personality, teacher, activist and journalist from Bengaluru, Karnataka.
Born into a family of theatre and cinema artistes, Belawadi obtained a degree in mechanical engineering from University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering in 1983, but has devoted the bulk of his life to the stage, cinema, journalism and teaching.
Belawadi has represented India as a delegate in many seminars, conferences and festivals around the world, including the Beyond Bollywood conference at the Gothenburg International Film Festival, 2010; the Performing Arts Market conference in Seoul, 2011; the 50th Theatertreffen – annual theatre festival meet at Berlin, 2013; and the seminar and exhibition, ‘Nature – A Good Idea’ at Trollhättan, Sweden in 2014. He has been faculty for film courses in Sweden and Istanbul, Turkey. He is a motivational speaker at events and Tedx conferences
Prakash Belawadi’s debut film Stumble, which he wrote and directed, won the National Award for Best Film in the English language, 2003. The film has now been included in the national telecaster Doordarshan’s Best of Indian Cinema series.
Belawadi has acted in many stage plays, web series and over 80 films in five Indian languages and English. He was given the META award for Best Supporting Actor in 2005 and the Helpmann Award, Australia (2019) for Best Actor, Male in the play ‘Counting and Cracking’, Belvoir Street Theatre, Sydney.
He was conferred ‘Pratibha Bhushan’ in 2003 by the Government of Karnataka for his contribution to culture and the Karnataka Nataka Academy Award (2011-12) for his contribution to English and Kannada language theatre. He recieved the Government of Karnataka’s ‘Rajytosava award’ in 2021.
He has also been awarded the ‘Pride of Karnataka’ by Bangalore Round Table (2015), ‘Varshada Kannadiga’ (Kannadiga of the Year) (2015) in the field of entertainment, by News 18 Kannada.The serial ‘Garva’, which he wrote and directed in 2001 is still considered a classic among Kannada serials.

Has directed a TV series in Hindi called Love Stories. One of the telefilms among these, Vapasi, was adapted by Mr. Ashutosh Gowariker and made into a major feature film ‘Swades’ starring Shah Rukh Khan.
Have developed online self-paced courses in filmmaking.
Has acted in several films in the lead in Kannada films. Among them are ‘Mysoora Mallige’ and ‘Devara Kaadu’
Regularly conducts workshops in filmmaking, directing techniques and broadcast histrionics at several institutions in India and abroad.

ARVIND KAMATH
Screenwriter | Director | Producer | Post Production Consultant
Arvind is a screenwriter and filmmaker based in Bangalore. He has been deeply involved in the southern film industry for the past 13 years, which includes a seven-year stint in the IT industry. He has produced, written, and directed several short films and two feature films. Among them, his latest feature film, “Arishadvarga” had the honor of its world premiere at the prestigious London Indian Film Festival 2019, followed by a theatrical release in November 2020, and it is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
His expertise encompasses a wide array of skills, including content development, screenwriting, script consulting, direction, end-to-end production, and post-production, which entails editing, VFX supervision, sound design, and color grading. Additionally, he provides technical consultation services for various major film festivals and studios.
Outside the realm of filmmaking, he is an avid reader with diverse interests, ranging from fiction, non-fiction, philosophy, western classics, biographies, mythology/epics, to humanities.
One of his most cherished achievements was being acknowledged and selected for the “Understanding the Other” exchange program, conducted by the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, in collaboration with SUCHITRA CINE ACADEMY and Centre for Film & Drama. This remarkable program took place in Istanbul, Turkey, under the mentorship of the renowned theater and film practitioner, Prakash Belawadi.
Beyond his work as a filmmaker, Arvind is also actively engaged as a visiting faculty and speaker at esteemed institutions such as NICC, iReboot, Suchitra and IIT Chennai. Additionally, he plays a significant role as a member of the founding committee and serves as a jury member for the BISFF – Bangalore International Short Film Festival.
He was the “Chief Programmer & Curator” and core team member for the FIAPF- accredited BIFFES – Bangalore International Film Festival, which has successfully completed 14 editions and is now heading into its 15th edition, under the auspices of the Government of Karnataka.

Institute of India, Shreyank has worked on numerous feature and short films as a Re-Recording Mixer, Sound Effects Editor, Production Sound Mixer, Dialogue Editor & Foley Supervisor.
Films that he has worked on have been screened at prestigious film festivals around the world, including Cannes Film festival, Berlin Film festival, Busan Film Festival. He was the Production Sound Recordist on ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ that won the Best Documentary Short at The Oscars.
He is the founder of ‘Aural Lab’ Sound Facility in Bangalore along with Suresh Bagali.
